Good news amid the chaos
Honestly, among so many bad news, so many bad times what we are going through, an environment so heavy for our mental health, I wanted to look for some good news that is happening around the world to clear my mind of everything that is happening in Colombia.
The first good news is related to the covid vaccine, I saw that both the European Union and the United States are willing to analyze patent freedom.
The United States and other countries had previously blocked WTO negotiations proposed by India and South Africa to help developing countries use the intellectual property rights of pharmaceutical companies to produce their own vaccines.
Now that there are countries that have been privileged with the amount of vaccines they buy or produce, they realize that vaccination against covid-19 is one of the most important tools to fight the effects of the pandemic. This is why the European Commission expressed its willingness to discuss any proposal to deal with the health crisis in a practical and effective way.
For its part, the United States government announced that it supports the temporary release of patents for the covid-19 vaccine so that it can be produced in other countries since it is a global health crisis and the special circumstances of the pandemic require special measures. They firmly believe in the protection of intellectual property rights, but to end the pandemic, the government supports the exemption of these protection measures against the covid-19 vaccine.
And the second good news is the decriminalization of abortion for rape in Ecuador and it seems incredible to me that at the time we are in, a country demands that raped girls and women have their child without them wanting to have it.
The ruling is a response to a series of unconstitutional lawsuits by groups that defend women's rights. This decision had 7 votes in favor and 2 votes against. and it is a milestone in Ecuador, because until now, abortion has been allowed only when the woman's life is in danger or the pregnancy is the product of the rape of a woman with a mental disability. The Ombudsman's Office assured the court that the court decided to delete the term "persons with mental disabilities."
The National Union of Women of Ecuador welcomed the ruling, which considered that the ruling "although incomplete, is still a necessary advance" and stated in a statement that it will continue to fight for the complete decriminalization of the termination of pregnancy
To finish, I just hope that everything that is happening in our country improves and that we do not fill our heads with negative things, we try to find news that encourages us and motivates us to move forward and helps us to have hope in difficult times.
Although the situation in Ecuador is not a "global issue" but it is good news, I like it because I consider that country as my second home and I love that women have a little more freedom on that issue that I consider to be very personal and delicate.
And speaking of vaccines, I see that it is a great opportunity to improve the current situation of the pandemic where not all countries can access the same number of vaccines and this would be a huge help for them, to reduce infections but above all to save lives.

Hi :)
ResponderBorrarI found this entry really hopeful as you mentioned in the midst of this overwhelming situation we all are living... I am really proud that there are good things to highlight in these times, since it is true that the saturation of information about the different events that our country and the world are experiencing can generate serious consequences for our mental health; The Ministry of Health and Social Protection (2020), mentions that this category of health has been one of the greatest challenges to face on the current pandemic, and if we add to that all the repercussions of the national strike and the influence of social networks , clearly anyone could be involved in cases of anxiety or depression if these conditions are not treated in time and properly, for example, in my case, I have chosen to disconnect a bit from networks and just keep myself informed of everything that I am concerned to a limit that (hopefully) doesn't become harmful to me.
Thank you very much for sharing this type of content!
